Description

This workshop is a knowledge transfer product of the N.24.18 Scientific Project sponsored by VNU University of Languages and International Studies, which explores EFL teachers' AI pedagogy competence in Vietnam. The project has developed and validated a Self-Assessment Scale grounded in two established frameworks, namely Domain 4 (AI Pedagogy) of UNESCO's AI Competency Framework for Teachers and Domain 2 (Teaching) of Vietnam's Foreign Language Teacher Competency Framework. The Scale measures teachers' ability to integrate AI in lesson planning, material development, instruction, and assessment across three proficiency levels: Acquire, Deepen, and Create. Validation with over 200 teachers confirmed strong internal consistency, with Cronbach's alpha coefficients ranging from .867 to .92.
The workshop targets secondary and upper secondary school English teachers in Vietnam and aims to help them locate their current level of AI pedagogy competence, identify concrete next steps for professional growth, and apply AI in ethically sound ways. During the two-hour session, participants first complete the validated Scale and receive personalized feedback on their proficiency level together with recommended development pathways. They then join level-based discussion groups facilitated by members of the research team who constructed the Scale. In these guided discussions, participants exchange classroom experiences, address common challenges in ethical AI use, and formulate practical action plans suited to their level. By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with an evidence-based understanding of their AI pedagogy competence and a personalized, actionable roadmap for advancing it responsibly in their teaching contexts.
