Abstract
This research investigated whether the alternative assessment methods, including role-plays, portfolios, and projects, positively affect the learning quality of students majoring in Business English. The researcher applied a mixed-method that consisted of surveys, observation, and interviews for her own study. The research was conducted in 12 weeks on 350 seniors in seven Business Communication classes who were majoring in Business English. Based on the qualitative and quantitative data methods, it was concluded that there was a true relationship between testing, assessing and the learning quality of students majoring in Business English. Based on the conclusions of various scientific research papers, it was definitely acceptable that the innovative ways of testing, evaluating and assessing are effective methods to improve the learning quality of students. If lecturers apply the alternative assessment methods for their juniors and seniors, the quality of learning will be improved significantly to meet the requirements of the enterprisers in the era 4.0.
