Description
The rapid growth of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) has transformed English language learning, offering new opportunities while raising ethical concerns related to academic integrity, critical thinking, and responsible AI use. Although AI literacy has attracted increasing attention, little is known about how Vietnamese EFL students develop the knowledge, skills, and ethical awareness needed to use GenAI responsibly.
This study aims to explore the level of Responsible AI Literacy among Vietnamese EFL students at Hung Yen University of Technology and Education and identify factors influencing their responsible use of generative AI in English learning. A mixed-methods design will be employed. Quantitative data will be collected through a questionnaire measuring six dimensions of Responsible AI Literacy: AI knowledge, ethical awareness, critical evaluation, transparency, academic integrity, and human agency. Semi-structured interviews will then be conducted with selected participants to provide deeper insights into students' experiences and challenges.
The study is expected to reveal students' strengths and weaknesses in responsible AI use and generate practical recommendations for integrating Responsible AI Literacy into EFL teaching and learning. The findings will contribute to ongoing discussions on AI literacy, ethics, and learner agency, supporting the responsible integration of generative AI in Vietnamese higher education.
