Description

The significance of educational technology has been internationally recognized; and digital literacy is explicitly listed as one key dimension of teacher’s competence. For effective teaching, the integration of technology requires teachers not only to be able to use digital tools but also to understand how to apply them pedagogically. And as artificial intelligence (AI) has increasingly influenced on education worldwide, how teachers are using AI for their teaching and how to well equip them with necessary AI-related competence are gaining significant attention. This study employs the multiple case study design to explore the AI integration by Vietnamese English Language Teaching (ELT) teachers through the lens of the AI-TPACK framework. Analyzing data from semi-structured interview and documentation, the study examines how Vietnamese ELT teachers are utilizing AI in their teaching practice, and identifies their strengths as well as weaknesses within this knowledge framework. Results from the study could uncover critical gaps in continuing professional development of Vietnamese ELT teachers.
