Description

Abstract:
The growing presence of artificial intelligence in language education has created new possibilities for supporting English language teaching and learning. In EFL contexts, particularly in language centers, many learners still experience anxiety, hesitation, and limited opportunities to practise spoken English. This presentation explores how human–AI collaboration can be used to enhance learners’ speaking confidence and classroom interaction at FND Education Company.
Grounded in Communicative Language Teaching and task-based learning principles, the presentation discusses the role of AI as a supportive pedagogical tool rather than a replacement for teachers or peer communication. AI can assist teachers in designing speaking prompts, role-play situations, guided dialogues, vocabulary support, and feedback suggestions. For learners, AI-supported practice can provide a low-pressure environment for preparation and rehearsal before they participate in pair work, group discussion, and classroom speaking tasks.
The presentation also emphasizes the central role of teachers in guiding AI use. Teachers are responsible for selecting, adapting, and evaluating AI-generated materials to ensure that they are accurate, level-appropriate, culturally suitable, and communicatively meaningful. By combining AI-assisted preparation with human interaction, learners can gradually reduce speaking anxiety, increase participation, and develop greater confidence in using English for real-life communication.
Drawing on classroom-based practices at FND Education Company, this presentation highlights practical ways to integrate AI into communicative English lessons while maintaining teacher agency and meaningful human interaction. The session aims to provide pedagogical implications for EFL teachers who wish to use AI responsibly and effectively to support speaking development.
